AFFM × ISIPCA Advanced Perfumery Certification Program — September 3–5, 2025A Sensory Journey into the Fragrance Heritage of Southern France
From September 3 to 5, 2025, the French International Fragrance Association (AFFM) will once again partner with ISIPCA, France’s premier perfumery school, to launch a three-day advanced certification program in perfumery. Following the course, participants will embark on a fragrance pilgrimage through Southern France, delving into the origins and cultural roots of scent in Paris, Grasse, Nice, and Provence—a journey that blends professional learning with sensorial exploration.
🔬 ISIPCA: The Leading Institution in French Fragrance Education
Founded in 1970 by the legendary perfumer Jean-Jacques Guerlain, ISIPCA has long stood as one of the world’s most prestigious schools in the fragrance industry, training countless perfumers and fragrance developers who now thrive in the global market.
This course is specifically designed for participants with a foundational knowledge of perfumery, focusing on:
Advanced understanding and blending techniques of natural and synthetic raw materials
Fragrance structure analysis and the logic of creative composition
Interpretation and reinterpretation of mainstream market perfumes
Hands-on creation exercises with peer review and group evaluation
Upon completion, participants will receive an official certificate of completion issued by ISIPCA—a valuable credential for those pursuing a professional path in the international fragrance industry.

🌟 Looking Back at the 2024 Inaugural Program: A Fragrant Gathering from Five Regions
In September 2024, AFFM partnered with ISIPCA for the first time to launch the Advanced Perfumery Course, welcoming fragrance enthusiasts from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, and Canada. Under the guidance of expert instructor Romain, participants gathered in Versailles to study nearly a hundred natural and synthetic raw materials, while learning how to formulate popular scent accords and classic perfume compositions.
During the course:
Participants worked with raw materials supplied by top international fragrance houses such as IFF, Givaudan, and Robertet
The instructor amazed students by identifying an unusual ingredient that made up only 1% of a formula, earning praise: “The nose never lies!”
Full Chinese interpretation was provided throughout the course, along with visa assistance, ensuring a seamless and accessible learning experience for all

After the course, the group traveled together to the perfume capital of Grasse, where they visited the local perfume museum, met with Mayor Mr. Jérôme Viaud, and engaged with industry associations—creating meaningful and unforgettable memories of cross-cultural exchange.
👉 Past participants' feedback:“The most in-depth and internationally minded perfumery course—truly enriching!”

This year, we will once again visit Robertet, the global fragrance and flavor giant headquartered in Grasse. Founded in 1850, this family-owned company is one of the few in the world that fully controls the entire process of fragrance production — from cultivation to extraction.
Highlights of the visit include:
A behind-the-scenes look at distillation factories and extraction laboratories, witnessing the transformation of rose, jasmine, orange blossom, and other natural ingredients
Face-to-face discussions with senior executives, gaining insight into how Robertet balances traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation
A walk through the flower fields, breathing in the pure scent of freshly harvested botanicals, reconnecting with the emotional roots of perfumery
This is not just an industrial visit — it's an inspiring journey into the origins of scent.

🏛 Grasse: The Cultural Charm of the World’s Perfume Capital
Nestled in the hills of Southern France, Grasse is not only the birthplace of perfumery, but also a dreamlike destination where history, craftsmanship, and nature intertwine in perfect harmony.
Here, you will:
Visit the International Perfume Museum: Trace the evolution of fragrance from ancient Egyptian spices and Louis XIV’s royal perfumes to modern fragrance formulations
Explore historic perfume ateliers: Step into time-honored brands like Fragonard and Galimard, which beautifully blend local artisan tradition with contemporary design
Engage in cultural exchange activities: (To be confirmed) Meet with Grasse city officials and industry leaders to explore local strategies and Sino-French cooperation opportunities
This is a dream pilgrimage for fragrance lovers and a rare opportunity for professionals to step into the heart of the industry.
🏖 Provence & Nice: A Journey into Natural Inspiration
Beyond the professional and cultural exploration, on September 6, we’ll continue our journey along the most enchanting routes of Southern France:
Stroll along the Bay of Angels in Nice, soaking in the sun and sea breeze of the Côte d’Azur
Wander through the vineyards of Provence, immersed in the lush scents of herbs, lavender, and red wine
A full sensory recharge, sparking inspiration for your next olfactory creations.
